A516 Grade 60 is a pressure vessel quality carbon steel plate developed for welded pressure vessels and industrial storage equipment operating under moderate temperature conditions. The grade combines reliable strength, good weldability, and stable notch
Chemical Composition
A516 Grade 60 is manufactured using controlled carbon and manganese levels to achieve a balance between strength and weldability. Silicon is incorporated to improve deoxidation and steel consistency, while phosphorus and sulfur are maintained at low limits to support clean steel production and reliable welded performance. The chemical design provides dependable fabrication characteristics for pressure vessel construction.
Mechanical Properties
A516 Grade 60 provides a minimum yield strength of 220 MPa (32 ksi) and a tensile strength range of 415–550 MPa (60–80 ksi). The grade offers good ductility and stable toughness, supporting safe operation in pressure vessels and storage systems. Its mechanical properties make it suitable for a wide range of fabricated equipment and pressure‑retaining components.
