The grade offers reliable notch toughness, stable fabrication performance, and consistent strength across different thickness ranges. It is commonly used in petrochemical, power generation, and general industrial pressure systems requiring dependable plate quality and good weldability.

Chemical Composition (ASTM A516/A516M)

Carbon: ≤ 0.21% Manganese: 0.60–0.90% Silicon: 0.15–0.40% Phosphorus: ≤ 0.035% Sulfur: ≤ 0.035%

The carbon-manganese-silicon alloy system provides balanced strength, toughness, and weldability for pressure vessel fabrication.

Mechanical Properties Tensile Strength: 380–515 MPa Yield Strength: ≥ 205 MPa Elongation: ≥ 23% (200 mm gauge length) ≥ 27% (50 mm gauge length)
