ASTM A299 Grade A is a manganese–silicon alloy pressure‑vessel steel plate designed for higher strength and improved thermal resistance compared with standard carbon‑steel vessel grades.
The grade provides enhanced tensile performance, stable weldability

ASTM A299 Grade A is a manganese–silicon alloy pressure‑vessel steel plate designed for higher strength and improved thermal resistance compared with standard carbon‑steel vessel grades. The grade provides enhanced tensile performance, stable weldability, and dependable forming behavior, making it suitable for boilers, heat‑exchangers, and medium‑temperature pressure vessels.
A299 Gr.A is widely used in industrial equipment requiring stronger plate materials than A285, while maintaining good fabrication characteristics.
